Yogyakarta, November 14–15, 2025 – The Graduate School of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) once again held the ProTEFL (Professional Test of English as a Foreign Language) Training & Test as part of its program to improve the academic quality and international competency of graduate students.

The two-day training was attended by 43 Masters (S2) and Doctoral (S3) students from various study programs at the UNY Graduate School. This ProTEFL program adopted an accelerated program concept with an online learning mode. The online training sessions were conducted via Zoom, simulation sessions via UNY E-Learning (Besmart), and the test sessions were conducted using Computer-Based Testing (CBT).

In his remarks, Dr. Rochmad Novian Inderanata, S.T., M.Pd., Head of the ProTEFL Training & Testing Implementation of the Innovation and Business Development Unit (UPIU) of the UNY Graduate School, stated that the ProTEFL program not only serves as a means of evaluating students' English skills, but also serves as part of the graduate school's accelerated program internationalization strategy. "ProTEFL is a crucial instrument in preparing students for the global academic world, international publications, and cross-border academic mobility," he said.

During the program, participants received intensive training sessions covering strategies for answering listening, structure, and reading comprehension questions, along with a test simulation based on international standards. The training was conducted on the second day, November 15, 2025, under direct supervision from the UNY ProTEFL team (Innovation and Business Development Unit) and technical support from the Language Services Unit (ULB).

The results of this training and exam will serve as a foundation for students to fulfill academic graduation requirements, while also encouraging the improvement of applicable English language skills in writing theses, dissertations, and scientific publications.

With this event, the UNY Graduate School demonstrates its commitment to strengthening academic quality and preparing globally competitive graduates. The ProTEFL program is expected to continue as a regular and flagship annual event, supporting the university's internationalization vision. (RNI)
