The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) successfully organized a National Webinar and Tutorial on Digital Deep Vocational Learning through Lesson Plan (RPP) and Semester Plan (RPS) Design on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
The event featured two distinguished national speakers: Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes., AIFO., who presented on Growth Mindset in Education, and Prof. Dr. Putu Sudira, M.P., who delivered a session on Deep Vocational Learning.
The event was officially opened by the leadership of the Graduate School of UNY, who expressed appreciation for this initiative as a form of academic contribution to enhancing the quality of vocational education in the digital era.
This webinar was a collaborative effort between the Innovation and Enterprise Unit (PIU) and the Master’s Program in Technical and Vocational Education (S2 PTK), attended by lecturers, vocational school teachers, university students, and vocational education practitioners from various regions across Indonesia.
In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes., AIFO. emphasized the importance of self-reflection before evaluating others, aligning with the Javanese philosophy “Mulat sarira hangrasa wani”—which means the courage to look within oneself.
He explained that to navigate the challenges of modern education, educators must cultivate a growth mindset—a way of thinking that remains open to continuous improvement and lifelong learning.
He also introduced mind mapping as an effective strategy to help students understand, organize, and retain learning concepts more deeply.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Drs. Putu Sudira, M.P. highlighted the need for a paradigm shift in vocational learning. He asserted that vocational education should not only focus on technical competence but also on developing learning skills, including self-directed learning, critical thinking, and the ability to apply knowledge across diverse contexts.
“Vocational education is not merely about employability—it is about shaping reflective, adaptive, and creative learners,” stated Prof. Putu.
He further stressed that the direction of vocational education must now move toward deep learning, emphasizing comprehension, reflection, and real-world application. In the digital era, this shift also represents a transition from pedagogy to cybergogy, where learners take greater ownership of their learning and engage meaningfully with technology.
During the tutorial session, participants received direct guidance in designing Lesson Plans (RPP) and Semester Learning Plans (RPS) based on Digital Deep Vocational Learning from Dr. Rochmad Novian Inderanata, S.T., M.Pd. and Dr. Ir. Yoga Sahria, M.Kom.
Through this activity, participants gained new insights into integrating digital technology, reflective learning, and the growth mindset philosophy into vocational teaching design.
This event is expected to serve as a concrete step in strengthening an adaptive, reflective, and future-oriented vocational education ecosystem.
